Plumbing Service Technician

FULL TIME • SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO

Position Summary:

To assist in achievement of the company's strategic objective and annual goals through the delivery of exceptional service and support reflective of Sugar Bear Plumbing, Heating, Cooling and Electrical (the Company) vision, mission, purpose, and values

Responsibilities:

  • Create a positive customer experience by completing the service correctly the first time with quality and care to application codes, to avoid refunds and recalls
  • Consistently provide accurate flat rate forward pricing
  • Mentor and develop Apprentice technicians under his/her care to achieve the desire performance metrics
  • Perform a thorough and accurate Plumbing inspection including Health and Safety Checklist and communicate findings to the customer in a written option sheet/ or service titan mobile app
  • Understand when to issue a "Lock out/Tag Out" tag and required follow-up steps
  • When issues are identified, prepare a detailed finding report with pitchers to discuss with the customer
  • Present repair options to include cost using the options sheet/ or service titan software Support technicians and apprentices on troubleshooting issues as needed
  • Complete all required documentation on services and collect, record, and deliver fees to designed and administration
  • Responsible to contact dispatch to disposition recall and warranty jobs to assure they are recorded correctly
  • Facilitate orders for all parts required for appointments and ensure preparedness for the day of service
  • Process warranty parts and paperwork as the job is completed
  • Record all material used or consumed on the job for job costing and replenishing
  • Facilitate rescheduling customer appointment if call is not complete
  • Transport materials and tools to the job site and provide proper accounting of assigned tools
  • Keep truck clean, stocked and accurately inventoried
  • Protect customer's home from damage while working and leave customer's home cleaner than when you arrived
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure appropriate job objectives are met effectively and completely
  • Inform a supervisor and/ or manager if the customer does not have  service before leaving the call
  • Communicate the benefits of Club Memberships
  • Manage to performance metrics scorecard
  • Support supervisor and/ or manager as a resource who can make decisions on behalf of the company for the technicians team
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Position Requirement:

  • 2000 hours completed/ or 2-years minimum
  • A High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required
  • A minimum of two year's experience preferred but not required with manager's approval in maintenance, troubleshooting and correcting diverse Plumbing/ Mechanical service issues
  • A Valid driver's license and approved to drive by Company's insurance carrier
  • Must be highly organized with good attention to detail and follow through
  • Posses good analytical skills and attention to detail with ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and manuals
  • Team Player working in a team environment
  • Excellent customer service skills with desire to exceed customer expectations
  • Must be able to use a computer tablet, smart phone and read a map or follow GPS

Physical Requirements:

  • Works in indoor/ outdoor elements with extreme variation in temperatures and weather conditions(heat, cold, rain, snow) at least 70% of the time
  • Climbs ladders and steep stairs. Majority of time spent standing, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, sitting, and reaching. Often works in high spaces such as attics and/ or crawlspaces
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds with ability to push, pull, carry, or maneuver heavier items (with additional manpower or appropriate devices)
  • Occasionally works from heights 15 feet or higher above ground
  • Carries 24 foot extension ladder alone and/ or 40 foot extension ladder with a fellow-coworker on most jobs
  • Have good visual acuity

Position Specific Standards:

  • Willing to attend training courses to advance skills
  • Willing to work hours outside of normal work schedule, if needed
  • Available for support to the team by phone (as needed 247)
  • Maintain confidentially on all private, sensitive, and proprietary business issues and concerns

Compensation: $46.00 - $52.00 per hour

Electrical Service Technician

FULL TIME • SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO

Position Summary:

To assist in achievement of the company’s strategic objective and annual goals through the delivery of exceptional service and support reflective of [Sugar Bear Plumbing, Heating, Cooling, and Electrical] (the Company) vision, mission, purpose, and values.

Responsibilities:

  • Create a positive customer experience.
  • Follow-up on sales leads and lists, both technicians, marked, and self-generated.
  • Educate new and existing customers on service offerings utilizing the Company’s sales System.
  • Recommend solutions and link customer objections to a total value solution and competitive advantage.
  • Demonstrates technical expertise and maintains a high degree of credibility.
  • Perform the necessary evaluation of the client’s home including the comfort survey, engineering analysis, and load calculation.
  • Effectively write and present proposals.
  • Address any resistance, negotiate value, and close the sale.
  • Complete all paperwork and collect payments.
  • Manage performance metrics scorecards.
  • Must be accessible by phone at all times, other than scheduled vacations.
  • Participate in all company sponsored training classes.
  • Maintain a courteous demeanor with customers and associates at all times.
  • Maintain a professional image at all times by wearing company approved apparel.
  • Abide by all standards of performance and ethics.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years trade and sales experience, preferably in the industry.
  • A high school diploma or GED, Associate’s degree in related fields preferred.
  • Knowledge of industry equipment, field concepts, practices, procedures, tools, and equipment.
  • Previous experience in service agreement sales and estimating.
  • Strong relationship building skills, customer focused and disciplined.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must have computer experience with Microsoft Office, Excel, Power point,Outlook and Access.
  • Function in a team environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and approved to drive by Company’s insurance carrier.

Physical Requirements:

  • Office environment and local travel.
  • Climbing, lifting, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, sitting, and reaching.
  • Occasionally lift 5-10 pounds.
  • Able to work under stressful conditions either verbal and/or physical confrontations.
  • Have good visual acuity to see and focus close, distance and peripheral vision with normal depth perception.
  • Willing to work extending hours, nights, or weekend, if needed.

HVAC Service Technician
